The British vessel s.s. Athenasius due at Singapore on October 1st is proceeding from there direct to

Keelung Tokuyama and Kobe to be sold as scrap at Kobe. About 20 members of her crew are Hongkong Chinese

British subjects. They fear that on arrival in

Japanese territory they will be mistaken for Chinese and interned or otherwise molested and they accordingly desire an assurance to the contrary before leaving Singapore.

Please inform the Japanese government of the facts and obtain the desired assurance, requesting them to

warn their local authorities.

Please report the result at the earliest possible moment by telegraph.
